Presidents Message: Food Shippers of America Conference February 17 – 19, 2008

Food Shippers of America’s 53rd Annual conference will be held at Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, FL.  Rosen’s is a new location, and is within easy access to many of Orlando’s key attractions.  And once again this will be a spectacular venue to conduct our conference.  Check out their website at www.rosenshinglecreek.com for more details.

This years conference theme is “Food Shippers 2008 – Making Great Things Happen”.  Over the last four years we have seen hurricanes, capacity constraints, market swings in a variety of business categories (such as housing and automotive) and a philosophical change to the way shippers, carriers and receivers are doing business.  As a result the planning committee has developed a great agenda that continues to keep pace with changing industry dynamics.  Some of the agenda topics are:

  1. Trends in the Food Industry – Mike Sansolo, Food shipping industry consultant
  2. Leadership Running Lean – Robert Martechenko, LeanCor
  3. Infrastructure – Brian Higgins, Congressman
  4. Efficient Food Shipping (Best Practices)
  5. Personal Development – John Engels, Leadership Coaching Inc.
  6. Economic Update – Bob Costello ATA
  7. Fuel Conservation and Management – Buddy Polovick, EPA/Smartway
  8. Educational Trends – Dr. Karl Manrodt, Georgia Southern
  9. Technology of the Future – Randy Marbel, CEO Blue Sky Logistics
  10. Roads, Bridges and Related Infrastructure – Rick Schweitzer, NPTC
